Welcome to 98%NaturalMommy! Here you’ll find recipes, wellness tips, and information on how to minimize your family’s exposure to harmful chemicals (no fearmongering intended).
Why all the fuss about chemicals?
More and more children are being diagnosed with chronic diseases and developmental disorders. We have the same genes as our parents’ and grandparents’ generations, but our environment is different. We’ve become more polluted, more processed, and more toxic.
Critics claim that there isn’t enough hard evidence against some of these chemicals. However, when vulnerable, fast-developing babies and children are concerned, it’s always best to err on the side of caution and keep them away from anything suspected to be harmful. If your neighbour was a suspected pedophile you wouldn’t let your children continue playing anywhere near him, even if he hadn’t been found guilty of anything yet. So why would you wait for stronger evidence against potentially harmful chemicals before protecting your children from them?
So why not 100% natural?
Chemical toxins can be found in both conventional and “natural” products, although they are more prevalent in the former. Just because a product is natural does not necessarily mean it is safe. We also cannot control what is in the atmosphere around us. It is not possible to keep your children away from 100% of harmful chemicals but you CAN do your best to minimize their exposure.
